I keep pointing this out, but everyone seems to ignore it. Even pointing it out to the mods has been futile.

Factions didn't sell 2 million copies. The press release says "Guild Wars FRANCHISE" sold 2 million, that includes BOTH factions AND prophesies.

The GWG news post on the front page is WRONG.

And you want to know where veryone is?

A few months ago, one of the ANet developers (I believe it was Jeff Strain) was interviewed in an online article, and the 1 million sales # was brought up (for prophesies).

Jeff stated that the 1 million figure was "old news" and that they had "blown past" that number quite some time ago.

Thus, while no solid sales #s have been discussed (besides the 1 million benchmark) for prophesies, It's significantly higher than 1 million.

So, no matter what, if the entire franchise (chapter 1 AND 2) has sold 2 million copies, Factions has sold LESS than prophesies. How much less? No one really knows, but even a conservative estimate of 1.2 million prophesies sales, that means that Factions sold 800K, fully 1/3rd LESS than chapter 1.

I really wish GWG would FIX their news page, it's misleading - well, no, it's flat out wrong.

Yes, the 2 million unit sales are Prophecies and Factions combined. My estimation is 1.5M for P and 500k for F. But keep in mind that Factions has only come out for 2 months. It took Prophecies about 4.5 months to reach 1 million mark (from release late April to early September iirc).

asians are the biggest purchasers of MMO's..not selling to asains would have been a disaster, GW would have flopped

Top 10 in this part of the year doesn't mean anything. Trophy Deer Hunter and Barbie Fashion Designer can make top 10 this month.

As I've mentioned in another thread - 500K-800K in sales isn't a failure, it actually very good. But compared to Chapter 1, it's a disturbing trend.

It sold good enough to get a green light for chapter 3, who knows what will happen of sales continue to shrink chapter to chapter?

um.... thanks for showing a picture of my warior leveling
maybe alot of them are in places that are just getting guild wars servers...
that was in quarry, and the past lack of faction given there has left a lasting effect of people being addicted to aspenwood. though I would think you would only go up against people of the same country, I think I once went against a group from another country once in quarry.

If i was ncsoft I would sit down with anet and other titles they have and have real good chat!

this coming chapter 3 better be good. there now more pressure for anet to do better! the only way is to make better rpg, that is If they have not already lost their player base.

Did you ever think that Chapter1 sold a lot more than Chapter2 because it's had a lot more time to make those sales? I'm not saying that's the only reason but come on...you're using an unfair comparision. Wait until Factions is a year old.

chap1>factions

why? because the sequel never beats the original..someone would have bought chap1 thought it was shit and binned it

with factions ppl will buy it and either bin it or complete then buy chap1

makes sense i hope..

A fairly substantial portion of those 1.3 billion people are people who are relativley poor, working as farmers. Certainly not people with computers.

it would not matter anet has been out for a year. If they came out with a new game. there should be enough people who would want to buy the game. In the rpg coummunity gw has a bad rep for not being a rpg.
